Please welcome Britt Block. An artist who paints from a bee’s perspective. A meditator. A beautiful soul.
What year were you born?
I was born in 1958, a Thursday. “Thursday’s Child has far to go”, if you remember the rhyme, proved true in my case.
What was your life like growing up? What dreams and goals did you have for your life when you left High School?
I was born into the ordered, privileged, repressed and repressive world of the Eisenhower era and came to maturity just after the full flower of the sexual revolution. The world we were promised as children had exploded by the time we arrived to participate in it. My cohort did not tear it down, but we lived in the ruins with the freedoms, the altruism, and none of the social safety. Our solution: go dance.
Name at least one outstanding experience you have had in your life. How did this or these events affect you?
The most important experience of my life was a Kundalini event I had in my early 20’s. A full awakening that my body was not prepared to handle. The experience changed the course of my life (which admittedly had been drifting) toward a full forward inquiry into spiritual experience.
How have your dreams and goals changed now that you are 40+?
My dreams and goals have not changed, merely streamlined. As well, I am not so much getting in my own way of fulfilling them. I have so little time left (relatively) to manifest a full embodiment of my love in the world.
What is your superpower?
Joy.
Can you share what your favorite part of your body is? Why?
My mobius, or solar plexus, is my favorite body part. For me, it has been a portal that has opened the gates of heaven and filled my body and being with radiant black empty space.
Do you like being 40+?
I love it.
Has your relationship with yourself changed as you have gotten older?
I have developed faith in my own experience. I have shifted from seeking to manifesting.
What are you passionate about now? Ie: career, volunteer work, hobbies, how you spend your time.
I am passionate about my artwork. I am wanting to show the radiant love underlying the world, and to see the world as a bee sees it. (For Britt’s artwork, please find links at the end of this interview)
What goals/ambitions/dreams would you like to be working on that you haven’t had the opportunity to start on yet?
I am becoming a full manifestation of myself. I am the tip of the pencil. I am the flow. I am the river and the flow of change. There is no other opportunity; only listening deeply and allowing.
My deepest heart wish is to be fully present when I die.
What advice would you give your future self?
Keep sending the love!
How do you think women of your generation are perceived?
I have definitely fallen into the invisibility gap in the culture. American people pretty much stop seeing you as a mature woman. In that there is loss and some grief as well as a great deal of freedom. There has to be a deep self acceptance to be able to live in that space and thrive. Because, really, there is nothing you can do to change it but accept it.
Are there any myths you would like to bust about the over 40s? If so, can you tell us about them?
Each decade of life has gotten better than the one before. Richer. More gratitude. More ease. More interesting.
What advice do you have to offer to those who are approaching mid life or those that are in mid life and perhaps struggling with it.
We all have so little time. Embrace the change. Embrace what is. Love it. Thrive in it. FInd a way.
Do you have a favourite quote to share?
“A man never steps in the same river twice, for it is not the same river, and it is not the same man.” Hereclitus
“Don’t tell me that the moon is shining. Show me the glint of light on broken glass.” Chekov

“In the end, the paintings are about presence. They are about the radiant and healing transcendent beauty of the earth, about Nature’s redemptive power, about the glimpse into the eternal that we get abiding with the land. “ Britt Block
